LIFE OF SERVICE TO GOD (Part 3)

Third, HE REMAINS STEDFAST IN THE WORK OF GOD. God has left instructions for man today of what he is to do until the return of his Savior. Paul encouraged the church at Corinth to, “…be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58). They were to continue in the commandments of God. The mission of the church is to evangelize the lost (Matt. 28:18-20), edify the saved (Heb. 10:24-26), and to be benevolent to the needy (Gal. 6:9-10). If man goes outside of this mission, he is not remaining steadfast and has moved from the work that God has charged him to do. Therefore, his work (or sometimes the lack of) is in vain. It is worthless. It is empty. It has no value whatsoever. Can you imagine a servant not doing as the master tells him? Paul wrote, “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ” (Gal. 1:10). Remember, it was the Lord that said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4). Jesus understood there was a time to do the work of the Father and there would come a time when that work would end:Until that time, one should remain steadfast, unmovable, and abounding in the work of God.

Man’s life should be in service to God by seeking His Wisdom, sacrificing his will for the Will of God, and remaining steadfast in the work of God. But, he is not done. Man has a duty to serve his fellow man.
