THE CHARACTERISTICS OF GOD (continued)
Third, God is forever present. Solomon wrote, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). This means God sees all that man does. David testified to this when he wrote:
While this passage pertains to God seeing all that David did, it also implies that God sees all that man does today. He is above us (Joshua 2:11). He is beneath us (Deuteronomy 33:27). He is before us (Exodus 13:21). He is behind us (Isaiah 30:21). He is around us (Psalms 125:2). He is with us (Isaiah 41:10-13). Man cannot escape His judging eye. God has revealed Himself to man through His Holy Word. Once he comes to know God through his obedience to that Word, he receives the promise, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).
Fourth, God cannot lie. While man has seen the corruptness of many justice systems around the world, he can be sure that the judgment handed down from God will be true.
God would not be qualified to sit upon the judgment seat, with man’s eternal soul at stake, if He was capable of lying.
No man living today, who has ever lived, or who will ever live possesses the foregoing characteristics of God. With that in mind, it is safe to say that there is only One that is truly qualified to stand as the eternal judge before mankind and that is the Almighty God (Genesis 17:1)
