ANNOUNCEMENT FOR APRIL 5th, 2020
North Main Church of Christ
Update from the Elders on the Coronavirus Situation that Affects North Main Church of Christ

• By proclamation issued by Governor Greg Abbott, Texas remains under emergency disaster conditions until at least April 30th.

o Currently, the proclamation only requires voluntary compliance by individuals to stay-at-home and/or work-from-home if possible, except for providing or obtaining “essential services”, and to minimize social gatherings to minimize in-person contact with people who are not of the same household. Among the list of “essential services” are churches, congregations and houses of worship.

o Religious services should be provided through remote services, but if they cannot be provided remotely, services are to be conducted “by practicing good hygiene, environmental cleanliness and sanitation, and by implementing social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19”.

o In accordance with Guidelines from the President and the Center for Disease Control, people should not visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance as determined by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
o Schools shall remain temporarily closed to in-person classroom attendance until May 4th, 2020.

• President Trump’s Executive Order regarding organizations that serve people who are at higher risk of serious COVID-19 illness requires canceling events for groups of 10 people or more. If there is substantial spread of COVID-19 in your community, all events of any size are to be cancelled.

• In Parker County, there have been two (2) confirmed cases of COVID-19, one (1) in Springtown, and one (1) in Azle. Both affected persons have reportedly recovered from the illness.
• In Palo Pinto County, on March 31st there was one (1) reported confirmed case of COVID-19 by the hospital.

Given the current situation, and the fact that our congregation at North Main has a large number of members who are “at risk” of contracting the virus the Elders have decided to:

o Continue our “suspension” of meetings at the church building for all bible classes, worship services, committee meetings and other other events, until at least the end of April.
o Hold “virtual” bible classes and worship services on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, until at least the end of April.

Respectfully and Prayerfully Submitted,
