What We Believe
What We Believe - churches of Christ
The churches of Christ believe in restoring New Testament Christianity by following the Bible as our sole guide in faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We believe in the following:
- One God who created all things and desires a relationship with us (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 11:6).
- Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died for mankind’s sins, was buried, and rose again for our salvation (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 14:6).
- The Holy Spirit, who convicts, guides, and dwells in the faithful (Acts 2:38; Romans 8:11).
- Salvation by grace through faith, which involves hearing the gospel (Romans 10:17), believing in Christ (Mark 16:16), repenting of sin (Acts 2:38), confessing Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10), and being baptized (immersed) for the remission of sins (Acts 22:16).
- Obedience to the commandments of God and of His Son, which means loving Him sincerely by keeping His Word, leading to true fellowship, blessings, and eternal life (John 14:15; 1 John 2:3-5; Revelation 22:14).
- The church, as the body of Christ, is composed of baptized believers who live faithfully and worship in spirit and truth (Ephesians 4:4-6; John 4:24).
- Hope of (assurance of) eternal life for those who remain faithful until death (Revelation 2:10; Titus 1:2).
We seek to honor God and His Son in all things and invite all to examine the Scriptures with us (Acts 17:11).
