About Us

North Main church of Christ

At the North Main church of Christ, we strive to be the church that is described in the pages of the New Testament. Our aim is to follow the pattern set by the first century church in doctrine, worship, and daily living (Acts 2:42). Upholding God’s Word as our sole authority (2 Timothy 3:16-17), we strive to speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where the Bible is silent (1 Peter 4:11). Jesus Christ is our only head (Ephesians 1:22-23), and we seek to glorify Him through sincere worship, loving fellowship, and faithful obedience to the gospel (Romans 1:16). We invite you to come and see the simplicity and power of New Testament Christianity.

What We Believe - Churches of Christ

The churches of Christ believe in restoring New Testament Christianity by following the Bible as our sole guide in faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We believe in the following:

  • One God who created all things and desires a relationship with us (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 11:6).
  • Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died for mankind’s sins, was buried, and rose again for our salvation (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 14:6).
  • The Holy Spirit, who convicts, guides, and dwells in the faithful (Acts 2:38; Romans 8:11).
  • Salvation by grace through faith, which involves hearing the gospel (Romans 10:17), believing in Christ (Mark 16:16), repenting of sin (Acts 2:38), confessing Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10), and being baptized (immersed) for the remission of sins (Acts 22:16).
  • Obedience to the commandments of God and of His Son, which means loving Him sincerely by keeping His Word, leading to true fellowship, blessings, and eternal life (John 14:15; 1 John 2:3-5; Revelation 22:14).
  • The church, as the body of Christ, is composed of baptized believers who live faithfully and worship in spirit and truth (Ephesians 4:4-6; John 4:24).
  • Hope of (assurance of) eternal life for those who remain faithful until death (Revelation 2:10; Titus 1:2).

We seek to honor God and His Son in all things and invite all to examine the Scriptures with us (Acts 17:11).

How We Worship - North Main church of Christ

At the North Main church of Christ, we worship God according to the simple, reverent pattern found in the New Testament. Our worship each Lord’s Day includes five acts:

  1. Singing – We offer heartfelt praise to God through acapella singing, as the early church did (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).
  2. Praying – We lift our voices in prayer, giving thanks, seeking guidance, and interceding for others (1 Thessalonians 5:17; Acts 2:42).
  3. Preaching – We proclaim God’s Word to build up and equip the church (Acts 20:7; 2 Timothy 4:2).
  4. Giving – We cheerfully give as we have prospered to support the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:7).
  5. The Lord’s Supper – Every Sunday, we remember Christ’s sacrifice by partaking of the unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Beyond our assemblies, we also worship God in our daily living—by presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to Him (Romans 12:1), walking in love (Ephesians 5:2), and doing all things to His glory (Colossians 3:17). Our goal is to live a life of continual devotion and praise to God.

Why We Worship - North Main church of Christ

We worship God because He alone is worthy of all honor, praise, and devotion. He is our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer (Revelation 4:11; Psalm 95:6). Worship is our response to His greatness, love, and mercy, shown most fully in the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Romans 5:8).

Jesus taught that true worship must be offered “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24), and we follow the New Testament pattern to please God and not ourselves. Worship helps us draw near to Him (James 4:8), encourages the church (Hebrews 10:24-25), and prepares us for eternal fellowship with God and His Son in heaven (Revelation 22:3-5).

In all we do, we worship because “He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

Salvation - God's Plan for You

Salvation is God’s gift to all who will obey the gospel of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Bible clearly outlines the steps we must take to be saved and to have the hope of eternal life in Heaven:

  1. HEAR the Gospel – Faith begins by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
  2. BELIEVE in Jesus Christ – Believe that He is the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again (Mark 16:16; John 8:24).
  3. REPENT of Sins – Turn away from sin and turn to God in obedience (Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30).
  4. CONFESS Christ – Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Romans 10:9-10; Matthew 10:32).
  5. Be BAPTIZED – Be immersed in water for the remission of sins and to be added to the body of Christ (Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Galatians 3:27).

After obeying the gospel, we are called to live faithfully—walking in the light, growing in grace, and remaining steadfast until death (1 John 1:7; 2 Peter 3:18; Revelation 2:10).

How do I get to Heaven?
By obeying the gospel of Christ and living a faithful life in accordance with God’s Word (Hebrews 5:9; Matthew 7:21).

Am I saved?
You are saved if you have obeyed God’s plan of salvation from the heart and are continuing to walk faithfully with Him (Romans 6:17-18; 2 Corinthians 13:5; 1 John 5:13).
