Upcoming Lectureships: Church History and Restoration

The North Main church of Christ is part of a rich heritage rooted in the desire to restore New Testament Christianity. In the early 19th century, the Restoration Movement began as faithful men and women sought to abandon man-made creeds, denominational divisions, and traditions, and instead return to the Bible alone as the sole authority for faith and practice.

The goal of this movement was simple but profound: to be the church you read about in the pages of the New Testament (Romans 16:16), following the pattern established by Christ and His apostles. Those involved in the Restoration Movement called for unity based on the Word of God, pleading for believers to “speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where the Bible is silent.”

This effort was not about starting a new denomination, but about going back to the original—restoring the church as it existed in the first century (Acts 2:42). At North Main, we continue this legacy, striving to follow the Scriptures faithfully, worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24), and teach the gospel just as it was taught in the beginning.

We honor this history not to glorify men, but to glorify God by following His Word with sincerity, humility, and love.
